Maruti Suzuki, India’s dominant automaker, has announced a significant shakeup of its senior management team. Effective April 1, 2024, several key leadership positions will see new occupants, signalling a strategic move to prepare for the company’s growth objectives in the upcoming fiscal year.

New Direction: Key Leadership Changes

The most notable changes involve Maruti Suzuki’s Chief Technology Officer, C V Raman, and Head- Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava. Both will transition to the Member Executive Committee, a decision that highlights the company’s focus on a more collaborative approach at the leadership level.

Taking the reins in these crucial positions are seasoned Maruti Suzuki veterans. Tarun Aggarwal, with over three decades of experience, will step up as the new Head- Engineering. Aggarwal’s extensive background in various engineering disciplines, including powertrain, electrical systems, and product planning, positions him well to lead Maruti Suzuki’s technological advancements.

Partho Banerjee, another Maruti Suzuki veteran with 34 years of experience, will take over the critical role of Head- Marketing and Sales. Banerjee’s diverse experience across sales, marketing, and production engineering equips him with a well-rounded understanding of the automotive industry landscape.

Strategic Repositioning Across Departments

The leadership reshuffle extends beyond the top positions. Sandeep Raina, currently the EVP and Head of Product Development and Cost & Program Management, will now lead product planning. This strategic move positions Raina to play a key role in shaping Maruti Suzuki’s future product offerings.

In the service department, Ram Suresh Akella, with over three decades of service at Maruti Suzuki, will take over as the new Head of Service. Akella’s experience in sales and network management positions him well to understand customer needs and streamline Maruti Suzuki’s service operations.

The reshuffle also sees changes in the supply chain and corporate affairs departments. Deepak Thukral will take charge of the supply chain, while Rahul Bharti will transition to the role of Head- Corporate Affairs.
